Gravel coatings can be arranged using salted soils as an astringent. For preliminary dosages, it is believed that 1 % chloride salts (NACL, SAS, MGCL2) compensate for 4-5 % of clay particles. The thickness of the gravel coating on salted soils should be higher than on uninhabited, due to the weak bearing capacity of salted soils during precipitation.
