Since fatigue tests are long and expensive, to assess the effectiveness of ultrasound processing of welds in order to increase their fatigue durability, the problem of developing less expensive and laborious methods is relevant. A method of assessing the effectiveness of surface hardening processing of an aluminum alloy was proposed in order to increase its fatigue durability according to the results of testing samples with active stretching. The method is based on fractal analysis of the deformation structure of superficially hardened samples with active stretching. Comparison of the obtained quantitative characteristics with the results of fatigue testing of samples allows you to optimize surface hardening modes.
